Book tickets →The station for Chambord is Blois-Chambord. Direct trains run from Paris Austerlitz in roughly 1 hour 30 minutes, a figure we have not re-checked against the timetable: use SNCF Connect.
From Blois, the Rémi bus line 2 runs all year, seven days a week, and takes about 35 minutes. A ticket costs 3.40 € (6.80 € return), paid to the driver. The Rémi page reports departures from Blois station at 9:20 and 12:20: check the full timetable. Keep your ticket, because it gives a discount on the château. The Rémi page and the Chambord page describe the rail-and-bus discount differently (50% off, or an 18.50 € ticket instead of 21 €), so ask when you buy.
The official site gives the A10 exit 16 (Mer) or 17 (Blois), the A85 exit 13 (Selles-sur-Cher) and the A71 exit 3 (Lamotte-Beuvron).
Our estimates, without traffic: Blois 17 km and 28 minutes, Paris 179 km and 133 minutes, Tours 79 km and 66 minutes, Amboise 67 km and 63 minutes, Chenonceau 58 km and 72 minutes.
Parking costs 8 € a day for cars and motorbikes, at three car parks 600, 750 and 850 metres from the château (height limit 2.10 m). Campervans and taller vehicles pay 15 € for 24 hours. You pay at the terminals, by card, around the clock.
The Loire à Vélo route crosses 6 km of the park, and the Châteaux à Vélo network has 15 loops of 10 to 43 km linking Chambord, Blois, Cheverny and Chaumont. Bikes can be rented on site.
